D13TC Standard for All VNL Models
Regardless of whether the trailer is fully or partially loaded, an aerodynamic VNL can provide substantial savings. Now standard, our next generation Turbo Compound is 6% more fuel efficient than our current 2020 D13 engine. And it’s up to 11% more efficient when compared to 2015 truck models.

This powertrain calculator is comparing previous emission level Volvo engines to GHG 2017 engine technology.
Use this calculator to compare the cost of fuel and DEF consumption between select prior emission level Volvo trucks and a greenhouse gas (GHG) 17 Volvo technology with either the Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) or Turbo Compounding (TC) engine. There are various powertrain setups highlighted including the XE Package (eXceptional Efficiency) and various rear axle ratios (RAR). Comparisons to previous emission years are based upon the most possible improvement for Volvo engines. All comparisons involve Volvo D13 engines.
